We are hiring a Facility Administrator, Shift Leads, Care Workers, and Overnight Care Workers. Positions are contingent on licensure and opening.

Roles we are hiring for

  • Facility Administrator - Priority Role

We are seeking a Facility Administrator to lead day-to-day operations at Melrose and serve as the Administrator named on our Oregon Health Authority licensing application.

$3,000 sign-on bonus, paid five weeks after opening.

Candidates must have at least two years of experience working with individuals with mental health conditions under the Oregon Health Authority. Every member of the Melrose team, including the Administrator, follows our CARES standards.

  • Shift Lead

The Shift Lead is a care worker role with added responsibility. You do everything a Care Worker does, and you are also the person in charge of your shift.

As a Shift Lead at Melrose, you will support adults in their daily lives through steady routines, everyday conversation, and shared meals and activities. You will get to know each resident, respect their choices, and help the home feel like theirs. You work alongside our Administrator and each resident's care team to carry out the resident's service plan.

As the person in charge of your shift, your name is on the posted schedule. You guide your teammates, make routine and safety decisions, and contact the Administrator and owner as our procedures require.

This is a good fit for someone who is warm, dependable, and patient, and who is comfortable making decisions and guiding others. You'll join a team that is on site around the clock, and every member of our team follows our CARES standards.

  • Care Worker

As a Care Worker at Melrose, you will support adults in their daily lives through steady routines, everyday conversation, and shared meals and activities.

You will get to know each resident, respect their choices, and help the home feel like theirs. Care Workers work alongside our Administrator and each resident's care team to carry out the resident's service plan. This is a good fit for someone warm, dependable, and patient, and for anyone building experience in mental health, social work, or human services. You'll join a team that is on site around the clock, and every member of our team follows our CARES standards.

  • Overnight Care Worker

As an Overnight Care Worker at Melrose, you will help keep the home calm, safe, and comfortable through the night.

You will be available to residents who need support with their evening routine, a restless night, or a concern after hours, and you will follow our overnight procedures and communicate clearly with the morning team. This is a good fit for someone steady, observant, and reassuring, who is comfortable working independently overnight. Like everyone at Melrose, you will follow our CARES standards.

The work

What the work is like

Working at Melrose Residential means being part of a small team that supports five people day to day. If you enjoy helping others, work well with a team, and like really knowing the people you support, this is a place where that matters every day.

  • A small household

With five residents, you get to know each person: their routines, their preferences, and what makes their day better. Real connections with residents are part of the work here.

  • A team that works together

Everyone here is a team player. We share what we notice, back each other up, and make decisions together, from our Administrator to our newest team member. Every member of our team follows the CARES standards.

  • A real community

We are a community working together to support people living with serious mental illness. We want you to enjoy helping people, and we want everyone on the team to feel supported too.

  • Part of a wider team

We work alongside each resident's psychiatric provider, case manager, and primary care doctor, so everyone is working from the same plan.

  • Steady routines

Days follow a regular rhythm of meals, medication times, and activities, so you know what to expect, and residents have a say in their own schedule.

  • Care around the clock

Someone from our team is on site at all hours, every day of the year, so the work covers days, second shifts, and overnights. A shift lead guides each day and second shift, and overnight staff stay awake and on site all night.

Each resident has a written service plan, made with them. Staff help residents with daily life and the goals in that plan. To see what the work looks like, read about the support residents receive on the Our Program page and about the daily rhythm on A Day at Melrose.

Getting started

Training and support

Every new team member completes at least 16 hours of orientation before starting, and training continues every year. Topics include medication support, safety and emergency procedures, and first aid. Direct care team members must be at least 18. Everyone who works with residents passes an approved criminal background check and completes a TB test within two weeks of starting. A shift lead guides each day and second shift, so you are never working alone on a decision.
