About Melrose

Melrose Residential is a five-bed residential treatment home for adults living with serious mental illness in Portland, Oregon. We are a small household with a steady routine, and a team that takes the time to know each resident. We are pending licensure with the Oregon Health Authority and plan to open in Summer of 2027. We are also hiring one or two part-time care workers. You'll work a set number of shifts each week and be the first to pick up additional shifts when a teammate is out.

What you'll do

  • Support residents with their daily routines, with respect for their choices and privacy.
  • Prepare and serve meals as scheduled, and keep the kitchen and home clean and safe.
  • Follow our written procedures, including medication procedures and emergency procedures, and complete the training they require.
  • Observe how residents are doing and record it clearly in shift notes.
  • Respond calmly in emergencies, and follow the chain of contact.
  • Treat each resident's rights and dignity as part of every task.
  • Work as part of a small team and share information at shift change.
  • Go with residents on community outings, and drive the company vehicle when needed.

What we're looking for

  • Kindness, patience, and reliability.
  • At least 18 years old, and able to work legally in the United States.
  • Able to pass an approved Oregon criminal background check.
  • Able to perform the duties of the job, including emergency procedures, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Reliable transportation to the home.
  • A valid driver's license and a driving record that meets our insurance requirements. You'll be comfortable driving residents on community outings in a company vehicle, when we have one.
  • Experience helping others is welcome but not required. We train you.
  • Commitment to our CARES standards.

Helpful to have: CPR/First Aid, Food Handler card, medication administration training, Mental Health First Aid, experience in residential, mental health, or caregiving settings. Required trainings, including HCBS, are completed before you start.

Pay and schedule

  • $20 per hour for day and second shifts.
  • Paid training before we open. You are paid your regular hourly rate for all required training hours.
  • We pay for the certifications this job requires. After you're hired, we'll also pay for healthcare-related certifications and licenses you'd like to earn, up to $500 per year. This does not cover classes or degree programs.
  • You may be asked to grow into a shift lead role.

Why join us

A small home where you know every resident and every teammate, a steady routine, paid training, and a team that takes the time to do things right.
